What is WBT.
WBT is a ceramic made material to make welding
work efficient.
WBT is a ceramic backing material suitable for
one side welding technique such as CO2 semi-automatic
welding and automatic welding.
WBT makes the back gauging technique unnecessary
and contributes greatly to enhancing productivity and reduction by realizing one
side welding.
Purpose of using WBT.
Heavy industries such as shipbuilding, marine industry and plant industry have
mostly adopted two-sided welding that accompanies back gouging work for full
penetration on steel plate.
Back gouging work, however, emits strong arc
light and fume which is harmful not only to the welder but to others working
around.
So it is thought to be the most serious enviromental hazard.
WBT
is a ceramic developed to greatly improve back bead formation on root pass
welding so that harmful back gouging work can be bypassed.
If welding is
done with WBT attached on the backside of the welding point, a back bead will be
smoothly formed simultaneously with the front welding.
WBT eliminates back
gouging or back welding work and produces flawless welding thereby saving on
back gouging costs and welding material.
The WBT series can be used with
most types of one-sided welding including FCAW, GMAW, SAW and SEG ARC.
